PS.190

Purpose

Safety and Health

Be aware of the client’s personal space and follow company Covid-19 protocols. Use safe practices when inspecting with ladders or entering confined spaces. Always use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Materials and Equipment

  • Flashlight
  • Paperwork
  • Boot covers
  • Gloves
  • Any other materials you may need

Procedure

Review paperwork, both on your phone and on your service route log at the beginning of your day
and before you travel to the bid location. Pay attention to COW notifications, client concerns, or any other special remarks.

  1. Park with the flow of traffic on the street. Do not block driveways when possible.
  2. Review the Order Instructions and Location Instructions. Review your route log for hand-written notes.
  3. Confirm the street address to make sure you are at the correct building(s).
  4. Time into this account via mobile or on the paperwork.
  5. Bring your paperwork and inspection gear to the door. Do not cross over grass or landscape on your way if avoidable.
  6. Ring the doorbell or knock; step back to give personal space.
  7. Greet them, introduce yourself, and identify that you are with Good Earth Pest Company.
  8. Talk with the customer about their issues with fleas. Ask if there have been any new developments since the last time we inspected.
  9. Walk through the home with the client and confirm that all prep has been completed.
  10. Make sure they understand that they and their pets need to be gone for at least four hours.
  11. Leave the customer to prepare their departure and go ready your equipment for your treatment.
  12. You will want to use PT Alpine Flea & Bed Bug aerosol.
  13. Once the client leaves, enter the home with material, tools, shoe covers, and PPE. Lock the front door so nobody can enter while you are working and do a sweep of the home making sure all people and animals are absent. In the event of a fish tank, they will need to be covered in plastic and the air pump turned off.
  14. Make your treatment with your aerosol can 3’ in the air, using a back and forth motion. Apply at a rate of about 100 square feet (10’x10’ area) every 10 seconds. On carpeted floors treat the entire area of the floor. Treat only the baseboards and perimeter of hard surfaces like linoleum, tile, or hardwood floors.
  15. Always treat the top of area rugs and then move them to treat underneath if it is carpet. Replace the carpet when you are done.
  16. You may want to treat pet beds, under furniture cushions, and on the tops of backrests of chairs and couches. Avoid treating anywhere that there will be prolonged contact with people's skin.
  17. Treat the interior of the garage when possible. On the unpolished concrete, you can treat the entire surface without worrying about it being slippery.
  18. While you are making your application, make sure to open any windows you're allowed and turn off all the lights. Make sure all your materials and tools are outside the house before you lock up the house.
  19. Try to treat your way out of the house to avoid walking on treated surfaces.
  20. Remember, one 20oz can treats 2,625 square feet. That’s a larger-than-average house. Avoid over-application.
  21. These products can leave a haze on the treated areas when dry. They can be particularly noticeable on dark surfaces. This isn't permanent but the client should be made aware before service is performed.
  22. Fill out an ORANGE door hanger with your name, the pest being treated, the date and time the treatment was completed, and the soonest time for re-entry of the structure. Make sure there is a door hanger for each door into the treated area.
  23. Call or text the client to inform them that you are finished with the treatment and inform them of their re-entry time. Remind them that regular vacuuming and sweeping will increase the effectiveness of the treatment, but to avoid mopping for at least a week.
  24. If this service is being done in conjunction with the client's initial service for all general pests you can now perform the exterior service detailed in PS.170 Initial service - Standard insect program for a residential client.
  25. Return all materials to your truck and put away your equipment. Dispose of all empty aerosol cans properly, per label.
  26. Enter all required information on the material applied into PestPac Mobile. Also, enter notes on the service provided today as well as any client concerns, observations you made, or necessary environmental changes (see PS.102 Entering material information and notes into PestPac Mobile). Be sure to update the location instructions with any pertinent information that other techs should know. Remember: Clients have access to your notes so they should always be professional and appropriate.
  27. If it was a particularly pleasant interaction be sure to send a review invite via the Podium app (see PS.150 Sending a review invite using Podium Mobile).
  28. Check off the account on your service route log.
