Procedure

Proper preparation is the key to a successful workday. Failure to do so can cause unneeded service visits, trips to the office, or even unsafe decision making. Some technicians will perform their workday preparation the morning of while others will decide to do it the evening before.

  1. First, review your Route Log and look for the following details:
    1. Type of services that you will be providing today.
    2. Services that are timed and notification notes such as COW or Call On Way.
    3. Types of special equipment needed (exclusion materials, KEY needed, extra rodent monitors, etc.)
    4. Any other handwritten or highlighted notes.
  2. Review the “Order Instructions” of each service in your day. These instructions are both in PestPac Mobile (most up to date) and printed on your Route Log.
  3. If you have any questions regarding your Route Log, make a note to discuss it with the CSR who put your day together later, their name will be printed at the top right corner of the page.
  4. If you are working with another technician, make sure to coordinate with them.
  5. Make sure that you are wearing the proper uniform and footwear for the day.
  6. Perform a safety check of your vehicle before driving:
    1. Check your brake lights, head lights, and turn signals for proper operation.
    2. Check your tires for proper inflation and acceptable wear.
    3. Check your fuel level and make sure to leave time for refueling if needed.
    4. Check that your windshield, side windows, and doors are all in good functioning order.
    5. Check that your seatbelt is functioning properly.
    6. Adjust your mirrors accordingly if needed.
  7. Your vehicle should also be clean both inside and outside. Wash your vehicle and remove any garbage or clutter if needed. There is a vehicle wash station located at the back of the pumphouse of the office.
  8. Stock your vehicle with the standard materials needed:
  • Crawl gear
  • Extra web mop head
  • Gloves
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Mouse traps
  • Paper towels
  • Peanut butter
  • Rat traps
  • Rodent body bags
  • Rodent monitor labels
  • Wipes
  • Wire to secure traps
  1. Stock your vehicle with any other special materials or tools needed to complete your day (review your Route Log for this information). If you are performing wildlife control, make sure you have the correct traps and extra bait for the intended animal(s).
  2. All the items needed to outfit your vehicle should be on the shelves in the warehouse or in the wildlife storage room. If you cannot find what you need, consult with your Service Manager or with the Shop Manager.
  3. Depart with enough time to be at your first client’s location at 8:00am (unless you have early calls).
