Creating a rodent trap map

GE.145

Purpose

To provide guidance and to establish procedures for all Technicians as the document rodent trap placement.

Safety and Health

Always wear gloves when handling rodent traps.

Materials and Equipment

  • Black felt pen
  • Grid paper

Procedure

  1. Once you have set rodent traps (see HS.200) at a client’s house or business, it is important to document their placement for other technicians.
  2. First use your black felt pen and grid paper to draw a diagram of the building with a basic outline. Using a map program like Google Earth can sometimes be helpful in creating an accurate diagram.
  3. Add the locations of the crawlspace and attic accesses. Use arrows to indicate entrance and direction.
  4. Add an X to indicate where each individual trap is located.
  5. Include any other information that would be helpful for other technicians.
  6. At the top of the map, make sure to write:
    a. Date and your initials
    b. Client #
    c. Client last name or business name
    d. Number of traps, location, and trap type (R = Rat , M = Mouse)
